Telling the Truth: A Revolutionary Act?

A blog post at Gulag Bound titled:  Time to Reboot America begins with the following quote:

“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

“We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious
is the first duty of intelligent men.”

George Orwell, author of “1984″ (1903-1950)

I highly recommend that you take the time to read this post in its entirety, along with the articles provided via links.  I will attempt to excerpt some of the highlights that may motivate you to do so.

Mr. O’Neill begins by reminding us what our Declaration of Independence says, then adds:

There we have it; there it is; those are our marching orders.  It is not only our right; it is our duty to fight a tyrannical, despotic government that holds sway over us, no matter under what label it hides — even when that government is wearing the garb of the United States of America.  That we are indeed suffering under “a long train of abuses and usurpations” is no longer in doubt; no longer to be denied; no longer to be endured.  So the question becomes “What to do?”  How best to effect the overthrow of a blatantly anti-American elitist political/social cabal — as large, powerful, and entrenched as it is?

As our Declaration of Independence notes, such an important and monumental task is not to be undertaken for “light and transient causes.”  Nor should “we the people” commit ourselves to a foolish, or impatient course of action.

The premise presented is that there has been a “long train of abuses and usurpations” may not be a premise that you are in agreement with.  If that be the case I urge you to start educating yourself as to how our Constitutional Republic is supposed to work and compare that with what has actually been happening.  Mr. O’Neill makes the point that there are many who do not understand what is going on:

…. the bulk of Americans are still largely clueless about what is going on.  It is to be expected after decades of intentional dumbing down, and a steady diet of disinformation, propaganda, and frivolous distractions via America’s various venues for “news” and entertainment.

That is not to say that if you are uninformed you are “stupid.”  It is to say that many have been actively and purposely deceived.  If you do not believe this or think “it cannot happen here in America” I again urge you to do some investigations of your own.  If you know on any level that what is happening in this country goes against what our Founders intended then I urge you to read on.  If you believe these are the rantings of an “extremist” then you need not waste any more of your time.  Thanks for coming with me this far.  Hopefully I will have planted a seed that you may, in future, wish to look into.

Mr. O’Neil goes on:

In the relatively short time since I started to cover the political scene during the 2008 elections, I have watched “we the people” go from confused, to dismayed, to angry, to “locked and loaded.”  I suspect that the only reason that American Revolution II has remained on the back burner for as long as it has, is only because of a lack of leadership and direction.  Walt Kelly’s statement that “we have met the enemy and he is us” was never more apropos than in regards to America today.  Where do you point the gun without the risk of shooting yourself in the foot?  (If you have not yet read Angelo M. Codevilla’s article “The Chosen,” then please do so.  I’ll wait)

He provides a link to the mentioned article that I find to be a concise (well, as concise as possible 🙂 discussion of Barrack Obama’s life story that gives you a clearer idea of who he is based on the life experiences discussed.  I urge you to read this with an open mind.  Getting the full picture, rather than one small piece of it really helps you understand the importance of each piece.

Angelo M. Codavilla’s article states:

In our time, asking how a young man of scarce achievement got into position to win the Democratic Party’s nomination for president courts the contemporary synonyms for “impious”: “birther,” “conspiracy theorist,” and, of course, “racist.” Granted, to inquire into what formed a president is not as important as to understand what he does. Nevertheless, because fully to know where anyone is going requires grasping whence he comes, let us open ourselves to wonder how, minus miracles, a 10-year-old boy without obvious talent who had lived in Indonesia since age six ends up with an eight-year scholarship to Hawaii’s most exclusive school; a scholarship to Occidental College; a transfer into Columbia University; acceptance into Harvard Law School, and editorship of its law review; and how he goes from job to prestigious job without apparently mastering any of the previous ones. No wonder some of Barack Obama’s supporters treat him as if he were anointed by an extraterrestrial power.

This is an attempt to look at reality and ask questions based on what you see that might cause a bit of cognitive dissonance.  What confuses us can often be the result of an attempt to manipulate us.

Mr. O’Neill continues:

America has been so thoroughly infiltrated and infested with traitorous elements that it has become difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff, the patriot from the traitor.  Nonetheless we must move to save America (and with it freedom), and we must move with some alacrity

Following this sentence is a link to some very interesting information.  It is a look at the increased net worth of 41 Democrats and 39 Republicans: “The List of the Elite 80: Skyrocketing Net Worth.  The most interesting thing I found was that the percentage change from 2004 to 2008 for Republicans was 168% and for Democrats was 756%.  I know that data can be presented to show whatever you want it to, however it is curious how often those public servants we send to Washington tend to enrich themselves.  How that happens is worthy of inquiry.  It is also ironic that the party that attacks “the rich” had a 756% increase in their personal net worth…..just sayin’.

Continuing with the article:

When your house is on fire because of arson, finding out who the arsonist is, and why they lit the fire should not top your “To Do” list.  Putting out the darn fire should be your number one priority.  Nevertheless, “putting out the fire” in this case will involve jailing some of the lead “arsonists” as part of the process.  That means “heads will roll” — in a purely figurative sense I hope.

Finding out who lead us to our current state of affairs in our country and why they lead us here are indeed important, but putting out the fire; reversing this trend away from our Constitutional Republican form of government is of greatest importance.  That means that it is not a Republican or Democrat issue, it’s much broader than that.  And the solution calls upon all who would rise to the occasion:

Which means that it is up to “we the people” to put out the fire (“Once more unto the breech, dear friends, once more”).  By the term “we the people” I mean that strong backbone of America that the country has always called upon in time of dire need — and who have always responded.  It includes blue and white collar workers, high school dropouts and the highly educated, farmers and businessmen, soldiers and sailors….  Patriots all.

We should keep on sending emails and letters, placing phone calls, knocking on doors, saying prayers, et al. — but there needs to be a new sense of urgency about it all.  We need to ratchet things up — kick out the jams, pull out the stops, and throw back the throttle.  We need to broaden our scope, deepen our commitment, and fire up our righteous indignation.

I would add to that list, blogging, tweeting and Facebook, however, qualify the “sending emails” to limit that practice to sending emails which contain information you have, to the best of your ability, verified as true.  And, if you find later that it is not quite true and requires further clarification, that you do this too.  That’s what restoring honor means; not that we are “perfect” just that we seek truth to the best of our ability.

Finally, Mr. O’Neill discusses who the “enemy” is:

It may appear that the enemy is vast and formidable, and I would certainly never underestimate them, but in fact, they are only a relative handful of fanatics.  The sheeple who swell their ranks will be the last ones to awaken to how they have been played — but awaken they will.   Many of them are simply greedy, arrogant, self-centered twits, who wouldn’t know patriotism if it came up and bit them on the butt.  Their mind-sets are largely dysfunctional and self-absorbed (arrogance, angst, and ennui, oh my).

The sheeple he refers to were called “useful idiots” in the past.  Learn your history.  It will help you see where we are headed.
